Kreayshawn: Five Reasons Why Her Friday Show at 1015 Is Free

Kreayshawn performs at 1015 on January 4.
Kreayshawn experienced the highs and lows of the music business in 2012. Her single "Gucci Gucci" sold more than a half a million copies and was certified Gold by the RIAA, but her debut album Somethin' 'Bout Kreay was declared a consummate failure after selling fewer than 4,000 copies in the first week.

This rollercoaster ride has left Kreay Kreay a bit up in the air when it comes to live shows and touring. Her show this Friday at 1015 Folsom, for example, is free with RSVP. This seems a bit strange for an artist who once sold out Slim's. So why the free show? Here are five reasons we just came up with.

5. She doesn't have to pay Lil Debbie to DJ

2012 was a contentious year for Kreay's White Girl Mob, with an on-again, off-again friendship with Lil Debbie. Kreay initially tried to mold her into a DJ, but Lil Debbie told Karmaloop in an interview that she wasn't feeling it. No DJ fee to shell out for Debbie means a lower cost of production.

4. Juggalo security is not necessary in San Francisco

Last year, Kreayshawn collaborated with Insane Clown Posse on the song "When I'm Clownin'." While this doubtless pissed off some of the Juggalos, the name given to ICP's esteemed fans (whom the FBI considers a national gang), she doesn't have a reasonable need to arm up against them here in the city.

3. Ditto for Rick Ross

It's been reported that they "don't worry about each other anymore," but Kreayshawn still might be looking over her shoulder after calling big Florida rapper Rick Ross "fake" on a 2011 UStream broadcast. Ross canceled the tail end of his tour dates last year under rumors of gang threats (which Ross denied), but he appears to be off the road right now and is hopefully taking care of his health after blaming well-publicized seizures on lack of sleep.

2. Basic bitches wear that shit, so she doesn't even bother

It's not like Kreay would blow show money on Gucci, Louis, Fendi, or Prada. So why does she need to get paid for a show? Makes total sense.

1. 1015 Folsom is fiending for social media presence

Part of the RSVP deal involves 'liking' 1015's Facebook page in order to gain free entry to the party. Not a bad marketing scheme, really.

That show super sucked. Nothing like a chubby M.I.A. knock off and a skinny white girl with too much eyeliner on jumping around like drunk high schoolers.

It's actually a great marketing plan: their social media gets a huge boost and they profit at the bar. It's not like this is a huge budget lineup.

The only hope for the house is that people drink at the show... is 1015 going under?
