The 5 Worst Appearances by Musicians in Sci-Fi and Fantasy Films
2. Sting in Dune
Roger Ebert once said of Dune: "This movie is a real mess, an incomprehensible, ugly, unstructured, pointless excursion into the murkier realms of one of the most confusing screenplays of all time." Which was, frankly, kind. In the above clip, Sting gives a performance perfectly fitting of a movie of this caliber. Forehead-slappingly stupid.
1. Tom Petty in The Postman
Oh dear God, who let this happen? Tom Petty -- good ol' wondrous Tom Petty -- allowed himself to be reduced to a dopey old hippie type in that post-apocalyptic pile of poo, The Postman. To make matters worse, his acting here is nothing short of abysmal. The only enjoyable thing about his performance is that the entire time he's on screen, Petty looks very much like he's having a really hard time not laughing at the whole thing. And, really, who could blame him?
