The 5 Worst Appearances by Musicians in Sci-Fi and Fantasy Films

Apparently, someone behind the scenes at Game of Thrones has really bland taste in music. Now, in addition to Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody making a cameo in Season 2, Coldplay drummer Will Champion is going to be joining the HBO show for Season 3 -- playing a drummer. (How creative!) These guys aren't the first musicians to nerd out on camera, though. Here, then, are the five worst appearances by musicians in sci-fi/fantasy films.
5. Daft Punk in Tron: Legacy

Style over substance reigned in the 2010 Tron re-boot, making this nonsense simultaneously snooze-worthy and deeply aggravating (which is actually quite a feat). What you may not know though, is that Daft Punk went to the trouble of appearing in it, for about three seconds. Don't remember that bit? It's because the band members are merely two helmeted heads in a DJ booth. Utterly pointless.

4. Keith Richards in Pirates of the Caribeean: At World's End

Much was made of the fact that Johnny Depp based his performance as Captain Jack Sparrow, in the Pirates movies, on the Rolling Stones' Keith Richards. Then much was made of the fact that Richards was actually going to start appearing in the Pirates movies, as Sparrow's dad. Problem was, it just wasn't nearly as funny as we all thought it'd be. It ended up basically being a non-event. Ho-hum.

3. Iggy Pop in The Crow: City of Angels

Not even Iggy Pop exploding off the back of a motorcycle after a high speed chase, soundtracked by PJ Harvey, could save The Crow: City of Angels from being anything other than -- in the words of Variety's Joe Leydon -- "stunningly awful." We liked you better in Coffee and Cigarettes, Iggy. Hell, we even liked you better in Cry Baby. This should never, ever have happened. Of course, we hear you do British commercials selling car insurance these days, so maybe The Crow isn't actually your lowest moment.
