S.F. Club Monarch Named Among Top 10 Soundsystems in the U.S.
Regular readers of this blog will know that we're huge fans of the soundsystem over at newish S.F. club Monarch. The huge, gold-plated horns of the Void Acoustics system look incredible -- and they sound even better, leading us to name Monarch's soundsystem the best in all of San Francisco.

Turns out we aren't the only fans of Monarch's clear treble and thundering bass. The folks over at online giant Beatport just ranked the 10 best soundsystems in the U.S., and chose Monarch as No. 7 -- the only S.F. club to make the list.

Noting that the split-level Mission Street venue has the only Void Acoustics installation on the West Coast, Beatport rightly boasted that "the basement of this beast is where the real magic happens." Monarch's James Bugarin also points out that while many of the clubs on Beatport's list are 1000+ capacity megaclubs, Monarch's basement holds only 300 people, offering "a more intimate experience for both the club-goer and performer."
So what's the best-sounding club in the country? Beatport bestowed that honor on Cielo, the New York club preferred by legendary DJs like Francois K and Louie Vega. Other honorees include the Avalon in L.A., Q Nightclub in Seattle, and the Belasco Theater, also in L.A.
