Twilight at Treasure Island.
The schedule for this year's Treasure Island Music Festival is out -- and with it, a better idea of just how Saturday, Oct. 13, and Sunday, Oct. 14, will go. With artists like The xx, Best Coast, M83, Ty Segall, Porter Robinson, and Public Enemy set to play, scheduling makes a big difference on the festival experience. Here then are the top five things to know about this year's Treasure Island schedule.

5. It'll be worth getting there early
The early portions of both Saturday and Sunday are stacked -- both with local artists of note like Dirty Ghosts (Saturday, 12 noon) and Imperial Teen (Sunday 12 noon), and with excellent out-of-towners like the War on Drugs (Sunday, 1:25 p.m.) and Grimes (Saturday, 2:15 p.m.). On exception is local garage-rock great Ty Segall, who landed a mid-afternoon set at 3:35 p.m. on Sunday. If you aren't on the island in time for that, you're failing.

4. A bummer: Nighttime artists playing during the day
With only two stages, and a lineup full of moody, atmospheric artists, Treasure Island will see some acts performing during the day who are probably better suited to the cloak of darkness. Most unfortunate among these are Idaho electo-pop crooner Youth Lagoon (Sunday, 2:50 p.m.) and Michigan techno/house producer Matthew Dear (Saturday, 3 p.m.). But then, if we had our druthers, we'd rather see pretty much all of the Saturday lineup from Grimes on under nighttime skies.

3. Important: Sunset sets!
As anyone who's been to Treasure Island knows, a highlight of the festival is the time between about 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. each day, when the sun (if the fog lets you see it) recedes behind the San Francisco skyline and casts the whole Bay in warm twilight. The artists performing during this time of the day get a special kind of atmosphere -- one that, this year, will complement the sets of Araabmuzik, Porter Robinson, and Tycho on Saturday, and Best Coast and Divine Fits on Sunday.

2. Expect an extended Saturday night dance party
Saturday at Treasure Island is traditionally the more beat-oriented day, but this year's evening schedule promises a basically nonstop dance party. With The Presets scheduled to go on at 7:50, followed by SBTRKT at 8:40, and then Girl Talk at 9:30, you'd best save lots of energy for the final hours of the festival.

1. No conflicts!
Yes, this is the standard deal at Treasure Island, the boutique festival in the Bay with only two stages -- but oh, how nice it is. Having zero conflicts makes for an almost entirely different festival experience, where you're never having to pit your curiosity at seeing new artists against your anticipation for the ones you know you'll like. What a relief.
