Top 5 Reasons Why Kreayshawn's Somethin 'Bout Kreay Is Not the Worst Album of 2012
2. Um, some of the songs are actually kind of good?
Especially if you step out of whatever semi-adult mindset you're reading this from and imagine yourself as a 15-year-old getting wasted off Jack Daniels for the first time while dancing at a party in your friend's parents' living room. (Which is just the sort of situation Kreayshawn the major-label artist exists to facilitate.) But hell, Diplo's "Twerkin!!!" bangs even if you're dead sober and wearing a tie.
1. Kreayshawn just can't be a regular, slick pop star -- and that's fun.
Competence is overrated -- wasn't that the whole point of the punk movement? Watching people try to do something they can't quite do is often way more interesting than watching someone calmly show off their skill -- and Kreayshawn obviously is out of her league as a rapper and a singer on this entire album. So what? There are already more than enough slick, easily packaged female stars in pop. Let's enjoy the blunt-smoking freak from Oakland who rhymes "numbers" with "number" and drips her garish mascara way outside the lines.
