Kim Gordon at Mercy Vintage Now
Ladies: Have you ever wanted to own a piece of clothing formerly worn by Sonic Youth bassist, style queen, and art-punk figurehead Kim Gordon?

Here's your chance: For the week or so, Mercy Vintage Now, a boutique on Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, will be selling 146 pieces of designer and vintage clothing owned and worn by Gordon herself. There's the teal dress she wore in the 1996 video for "Incinerate." There's the purple and orange dress Gordon wore onstage at ArthurFest in 2005. There's a black leather trench jacket she may have worn in the "Kool Thing" video -- or maybe not. And there are many other items of designer and vintage clothing Gordon wants to get rid of.

The sale came about when a Rachel Cubra, an employee of the store who is friends with a woman who lives with Gordon, when to stay at the Gordon home in Northampton, Massachusetts, this summer. According to Collectors Weekly, Gordon said she wanted to get rid of some of her clothes, and Cubra suggested that she let Mercy Vintage Now handle the sale instead of just putting them all online.

Gordon agreed, and now the shop is selling Gordon's shoes, skirts, dresses, coats, and more, at prices between $78 and $450. "Most of it is designer stuff," Mercy co-owner Karen Anderson tells Collector's Weekly. "A few pieces are true vintage, and the rest is more current and high-end designer. We just priced each item in terms of what it was, more so than who it belongs to."

The sale opened with a party on Friday night -- which Gordon attended -- and runs through Sept. 9. Clothing sizes range from 2 to 8; most of the shoes are 8.5 to 9. For more info and photos, check out the in-depth report on Collector's Weekly, and see the sale on the Mercy Vintage Now website.
