Mossmoss Picks Five New Tracks to Celebrate As You Like It's Second Anniversary
It's hard to believe it's only been two years since As You Like It first appeared in San Francisco. Today, it seems as though the family-like crew has a near-monopoly on underground techno in the city, with packed events almost every other weekend. A large part of this is due to the party's on-point roster of resident DJs -- a roster that begins with Scottish transplant Mossmoss (aka Mattie Bowen). As it says in his bio, "You can catch him opening the night, closing the night, peak-hour, and off-peak. Basically, Mossmoss makes it happen." Now celebrating two years of "quality," he sent over five representative tracks as a teaser for the main event. Give 'em a spin and catch him live this Saturday, on top of The W, for the As You Like It Two-Year Anniversary with Mark "MK" Kinchen and The Revenge.
Mossmoss plays on Saturday at the W Hotel for As You Like It's Two Year Anniversary.
"My Love," by Safeword
"These guys have just been killing it recently. Local heroes and all around great guys; Safeword have really started to hit a bit of a stride. I'm stoked to call them my buddies, and even more excited that they're making fantastic music."
"Just An Illusion (MK Remix)," by Amirali
"As soon as I heard this one I knew I needed to play it; it's a great song, a beautiful track, and just slightly creepy. MK has made some great tracks and great mixes, this is a wonderful example of his amazing remix work. We're really excited to host him this month at AYLI In The Clouds."
"Don't Be Square," by fckn hunt
"I don't remember how I came across this track, but I love it. Grimy, dark, and a little bit funky. Its the kind of track I love to play in the late hours of the night, just to make things a little bit weird. The copy sums it up perfectly; 'Don't be a square yo. Make your punky ass clap.'"
