Naytronix is the solo project of Nate Brenner, best known as being the bassist of Oakland art-pop heroes tUnE-yArDs. We've gushed previously about the freaky electro of Naytronix's first EP, which came out this spring, and here is a new video for "Robot," the first single off Brenner's solo debut, Dirty Glow, which is out Oct. 19 on Plug Research. The song more than lives up to its name, with pokes of high-pitched digital synth, plenty of digital voice manipulation, and a slight, funky drum-machine groove, like a more R&B-leaning Kraftwerk. Brenner's vocals, though, are notably under-produced -- low-pitched and bare, adding an element of humanity to the otherwise machine-made music.

The funny video for "Robot" has Brenner and his pal gorilla finding the urge to go to San Francisco, then traveling there via BART and boat, and making a bunch of friends along the way. It looks like the crew, led by director Christine Hucal, enlisted the help of lots of random city denizens and tourists for cameos in the video, which premiered on Filter today. Check out their S.F. adventure after the jump.
