DRMS: New Local Art-Pop Band Has a Gorgeous Video For "With You"
And here is DRMS, a new, eight-piece (!) jazzy pop outfit from the East Bay with killer musicianship and a taste for atmosphere. Pushed gently along by vibraphones and keyboards, this new single "With You" unfolds into a full, deep, uncertain groove, led by Emily Ritz's striking voice. The gorgeous yet weird and kind of Lynchian video has Ritz gliding through a house filled red and blue light, underscoring song's sense of tentative mystery.
DRMS is the project of Ritz and keyboardist Rob Shelton, who's recruited pals like Mike Deni and Nathan Blaz of locals Geographer and even the great Thao Nguyen to help on the band's first full album, which saw release earlier this month. DRMS celebrates the release of that album tomorrow (Saturday, July 28) with a headlining show at the Rickshaw Stop. The last time we caught DRMS, we came away pretty impressed. Check out the video for "With You," and stream the band's entire new album after the jump.
Here's the band's self-titled debut album, which will presumably get a thorough airing tomorrow night. Also on the bill is the Shotgun Wedding Quintet and St. Tropez.
