Kreayshawn Drops Video for "Breakfast" (ft. 2 Chainz), Announces Debut Album Release Date
It's been almost a year to the day since Kreayshawn set YouTube aflame with her ridiculously successful "Gucci Gucci" video, and after a period of relative recorded silence, the Oakland-bred video director has emerged with two videos in collaboration with hot Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz. She makes a cameo on his "Murder," while he repays the favor on her "Breakfast (Syrup)" -- the first single off of Kreayshawn's debut album, Somethin 'Bout Kreay, which is scheduled for an Aug. 14 release.

Director Alex Nazari, who's helmed several videos for 2 Chainz and other up-and-coming rappers like Tyga and Travis Porter, crafts appropriately dark and bloody scenes for "Murder," including the use of some pretty medieval-looking weapons, but keeps it on the cute and kitschy line instead of devolving into Saw-style torture porn. Neither 2 Chainz or Kreayshawn are at their most nimble lyrically, but both take convincing turns embodying the dark side.
The "Murder" video was quickly followed up today by Kreayshawn's self-directed video for "Breakfast (Syrup)," a ditty that features 2 Chainz and finds the pair exploring a shared love of codeine over a messy pancake breakfast. As in previous Kreay-led works, the visuals outstrip the vocals, with more eye candy than ear candy:
Kreayshawn and 2 Chainz are currently scheduled to both drop their albums on the same day, Aug. 14. Kreayshawn's Somethin 'Bout Kreay will be released on Columbia Records while 2 Chainz's Based on a T.R.U. Story will drop on Def Jam.
