Neutral Milk Hotel's Jeff Mangum Adds S.F. Show, Goes on Sale Today
For some of us, the name Neutral Milk Hotel carries a near-mythic heft, an exalted reputation earned in the wake of the 1998 indie-rock album In the Airplane Over the Sea and other records. And it's a good time of year to be a NMH fan: Jeff Mangum, the main dude behind Neutral Milk Hotel, was already set to perform two shows at the Fox Theater next Monday and Tuesday on his way to Coachella.

Today, Mangum added a third show -- this Sunday, April 8, at the Great American Music Hall.
Given that this third show comes before the other two, that it's on the S.F. side of the bay, that it's at a venue many hold dear in their hearts, and that it's Jeff from Neutral. Milk. Hotel., the show seems likely to sell out. But hey, tickets don't go on sale until today at 3 p.m., so you have plenty of time to plan your moves and get in that online waiting room or whatever early. Just don't say we didn't warn you.
And while you're waiting, read a review of Mangum's recent show in Minneapolis from our sister paper City Pages, which includes this illustrative nugget:
The aisles and orchestra pit before the stage were quickly aswarm, and the audience became a choir of hundreds, many weeping, many embracing one another, some too overcome to sing.
