Six Children of Music Legends Whose Own Music Doesn't Suck
But all is not lost! Just to prove that it can be done with style and panache -- and without having to rely on lame imitation -- here are our six favorite musical offspring of musician parents.
1. Nancy Sinatra
In the '60s, Frank Sinatra's daughter was a fucking badass. And she was beautiful. And she had great style. And her biggest hits -- "These Boots are Made for Walkin,'" "Bang Bang" -- still sound amazing today. Doing a love song duet with her dad ("Something Stupid") was kind of gross and inappropriate, but we still think she rules.
2. Roseanne Cash
If we were the offspring of Johnny Cash, we'd leave well alone on the music front (imagine trying to keep up with that legacy). But Roseanne Cash is clearly doing something right, because she's been nominated for 10 Grammys at this point. We like her best when she's doing her jauntiest country stuff, like "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party."
3. Damian Marley
Ziggy Marley used to get most of the attention. But for us, it's all about Damian, because where Ziggy basically impersonated his dad, the youngest Marley son really tries to push things forward, while still retaining a faithful reggae vibe. His work with Nas kicks ass.
