Pat Mahoney and Nancy Whang play FACE, on Friday, at Public Works

Well, it's almost the weekend, and it's time to start figuring out what there is to do. At this point, you've probably heard all about the massive (and controversial) rave scheduled for this Saturday at the Oracle Arena, so we won't mention it. Instead, we've prepared a shortlist of four sure-fire events that we think you'll enjoy. Read on -- your weekend awaits.

Friday, March 30

What: FACE presents Nancy Whang & Pat Mahoney
Where: Public Works
When: 10 p.m. - 4 a.m.
Why: The always-tasteful FACE returns this month for its latest party at Public Works. This time around it's playing host to two New York favorites with Nancy Whang and Pat Mahoney. Both ex-members of the now disbanded LCD Soundsystem, they've each gone on to find considerable success on their own. Whang tours and records with The Juan Maclean as a multi-instrumentalist and singer. Her career has seen her front and center on a variety of tracks that you might recognize, like: "One Day," "Happy House," and even Soulwax's "NY Excuse." Mahoney DJs occasionally with James Murphy as Special Disco Version and is currently involved in a project called New Build with members of Hot Chip. Check out "Finding Reasons" and this mix Mahoney recorded for Future Classic in Australia.

What: Blow Up presents DJ Skeet Skeet
Where: DNA Lounge
When: 10 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Why: If you're under 21, there are few weekend party options available to you. However, Jeffrey Paradise and Ava Berlin's weekly Blow Up parties at the DNA Lounge buck the trend by providing a total nightlife experience that you'd be hard pressed to find elsewhere. This week the party is flying up DJ Skeet Skeet from Los Angeles. A party rocker by nature, he's made a name for himself off the strength of his remixes for pop groups like Foster the People, Ke$ha, and Katy Perry. Get a feel for his style by listening to his Good Evening Mixtape, recently recorded for streetwear company Mishka. Read our recent article on Blow Up with Felix Da Housecat for an even better picture of what the night might entail.

Saturday, March 31

What: As You Like It In The Clouds with Tiger & Woods
Where: The W Hotel
When: 1 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Why: Though other cities have wholeheartedly adopted the concept of the hotel as nightclub, San Francisco has been something of a late adopter. This Saturday, The W Hotel will be opening up its fourth floor for an epic day party put on by As You Like It. And, like many of its parties recently, this one will feature a fully stacked line-up. Headlining everything is Tiger & Woods, a mysterious disco re-edit group that became an AYLI favorite when it played the party late last year. Listen to "Gin Nation," "Don't Hesitate," and "Love in Cambodia" for a better understanding of what the duo is all about. Joining the discophiles at the top of the bill is new school tech house producer Laura Jones, whose tracks "Love in Me" and "Inner Place" have each become anthems in their own right. As always, the day's festivities will be rounded out by a whole cast of excellent local DJs: Rich Korach, Brian Bejarano, Nolan, and William Wardlaw.

What: Sweater Funk Saturday Night
Where: Elbo Room
When: 10 p.m. - 2 a.m.
Why: While the rest of the city sleeps, a dedicated crew of pop-lockers and record diggers are in a dimly-lit Chinatown basement having the time of their lives. The name of the event is Sweater Funk, and since 2009 the free Sunday night weekly has been ground zero for San Francisco's "boogie" community. A narrow genre, it refers to the danceable R&B records that began hitting shelves in the later disco years and the early-to-mid '80s. Now on a small hiatus from its usual digs at Li Po Lounge (which has closed its basement for renovations), the party is taking over Elbo Room for a rare Saturday night gig. Expect the whole crew plus a special guest host in the form of KPOO radio personality K-Maxx. Here's your chance to catch what this local favorite is all about, with some time to nurse your hangover before Monday strikes.
