We're Throwing a Free Party with the Jealous Guys, DJ Dials, and Yr Skull, This Week
The Jealous Guys, expressing solidarity with M.I.A.
Over here at All Shook Down, we like to throw a little party each year before the Noise Pop festival takes over San Francisco. So mark your calendar: On Thursday, we're inviting you all to the Noise Pop Pop-Up Shop for a get-together featuring a live set from S.F. rap duo the Jealous Guys, and performances by DJ Dials and YR Skull.
We've covered the Jealous Guys plenty here before: Rappers Ayinde and BizYCasa are childhood friends and S.F. natives who deal in a murky, mellow hip-hop that's won lots of praise. Last year's Audiobook EP was produced by Jeremy "Zodiac" Rose -- who worked on the Weeknd's "What You Need" -- and featured "Miss San Francisco," a sort of love poem to the city that's best taken in through the video. Read our Q&A with them from last year, and download the duo's new EP.
Noah Bennett, aka DJ Dials, is best known locally for his work at the Change the Beat parties, but his adventurous, bass-heavy productions have earned Bennett positive reviews and gigs all over. (He even made our list of last year's best local electronic records.) And we're super excited to present YR Skull, one half of the vocal electronic project Silver Hands, for a DJ set.
Thursday's party is free. Just show up to the Pop-Up Shop, which this year is taking over the headquarters of the Bold Italic at 34 Page St., between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. this Thursday. We'll see you there.
