Dave Mustaine Confirms Idiocy Twice in One Week

Categories: Freak Show

As you may have already heard, a couple of days ago, Megadeth's Dave Mustaine told musicradar.com that he was "hoping that whatever is in the White House next year is a Republican" (he knows politicians aren't robots right? Surely that should be a "whoever," not a "whatever"?) and gave his own rather bizarre opinions of all of this year's G.O.P. presidential candidates.

He started off quite sensibly, expressing suspicions about Mitt Romney's wealth ("Where does a guy make that much money? ... There's some questions there ..."), but it was all downhill from there. He called Newt Gingrich "that angry little man," before immediately admitting "I still like him," and then went off about Ron Paul in a verbal beatdown that made almost no sense at all.

"I heard somebody say he was like insecticide," Mustaine noted confidently of Paul. "Ninety-eight percent of it's inert gases, but it's the two percent that's left that will kill you. What that means is that he'll make total sense for a while, and then he'll say something so way out that it negates everything else." I mean, we don't like Ron Paul either, but when Dave Mustaine starts accusing other people of saying things that are "way out," it's so ironic that there'll probably be a T-shirt about it in Vice magazine next month.

Finally, Mustaine stated loudly and clearly: "I think Santorum has some presidential qualities, and I'm hoping that if it does come down to it, we'll see a Republican in the White House ... and that it's Rick Santorum."

That's a pretty solid and unambiguous endorsement, we think. So we were (semi-) surprised yesterday to hear that Dave's changed his mind. "I respect the fact that Santorum took time off from his campaign to be with his sick daughter," he explained in a press release, "but I never used the word 'endorse.'" No, D.M. You said you hoped our next president would be Rick Santorum. How is that not a frickin' endorsement from you?

But let's be honest: Expecting Dave Mustaine to make any sort of consistent sense is a bit like expecting Newt Gingrich to stay married to a woman who's been diagnosed with a serious illness. It just ain't gonna happen.

Dave has a history of saying stuff that is just batshit mental. Last December, for example, he told MTV Hive that: "It's pretty clear that they're taking prayer out of school ... I collect books and I have some really, really old schoolbooks, and God is mentioned on every single page. They're taking God out of the schools to dumb us down."

Uh, what? We wonder if Dave knows about that 2010 study that showed that people who identified as liberal and atheist had higher IQs than those who didn't. Probably not, given that, later on in that same MTV Hive "dumbing down God" interview, Mustaine said he'd beat up a "transgender dude in a dress" for using the same changing room as his wife. This man is definitely not the sharpest tool in the tool box (though he's definitely a tool of some description).

It's no wonder then that he's choosing to support (we didn't say "endorse," Dave -- don't get upset) Rick Santorum: A man who believes that women who are raped and subsequently get pregnant should "make the best out of a bad situation" and have the child. A man who wants to reinstate Don't Ask, Don't Tell. A man who once compared gay sex with incest. Of course Dave likes this guy! Santorum says as much bigoted, insane shit as Mustaine does.

It's kind of funny how a liberal can have some batshit insane people (see Jeremiah Wright, Bishop E. Long  the false Christians) supporting them and they never get called out for it. But when someone with conservative values (or is a true Christian) stands up, the media makes them out to be idiots. You don't become a successful musician by just talent, Mustaine has the brains and ingenuity to stay on top. I don't even know how I wound up on this site. Nothing but liberal propaganda here.

To anyone else that's sick of this liberal spin in the media stay the hell away from this site. The top stories are nothing but retarded celeberty gossip; how the hell can these people be trusted to give an honest and intelligent opinion about politics or anything of real importance?Don't even bother responding I don't have time to deal with your crap.

Yeah what "study" shows libs have higher IQ's? might be nice to cite something like that...or mention the 2nd part of the test showing they have no common sense.

You'll notice that that part of the text is highlighted in red... because it's a link... to an article about the study. And you wanna talk about common sense... Sheesh!

Rae, you are yet another secular fundalmentalist calling people "insane" for having a different outlook. Name calling doesn't get you anywhere with people.

From what I've read of your article, you prefer barbarism rights over responsiblity when it comes to human life. You try to pretend like Gayness is natural when really it's against evolution and procreation.

You pretend you defend woman's rights by supporting abortion when really it's the exact opposite. We should instead be encouraging a higher standard for women to exceed to - "you can do this! You are smart enough, strong enough, tough enough to handle having a child."

Who's Margaret Sanger? Do you know why she started planned parenthood - genocide of ethinic people and the poor.

54,559,615 people have been aborted since 1973. How many more people do we have to lose? If your for big government, big spending, huge programs, then why don't you make a program to save children?

Thankfully our parents did not result to barbarism and let us live...let's start saving lives and end a culture of lazyness.

FYI - Mustaine is a flip flopper and I enjoy his music. We should be more concerned about the opinions of our politicians than celebrities.

Let me guess... You're not in possession of a uterus. Yep, no! Didn't think so. Which is probably why you've never been inside a Planned Parenthood - clinics that have provided me, and many other women who cannot afford health insurance, with free health care and contraceptives for many years, to ensure we have control over our reproductive rights. Planned Parenthood is about saving women's lives (the pap smears they provide, alone, have saved countless numbers), NOT about "genocide" (could you be more dramatic?). Jesus, man, get your head out of your ass and away from Fox news and actually talk to a woman once in a while. My reproductive health has got nothing to do with you. Oh, and over the many, many visits I have made to Planned Parenthood over the years, not one of them including me popping in to get an abortion (because of all those awesome free contraceptives Planned Parenthood gave me in the first place...)

If only planned parenthood had been around for your mother, so she could have made a choice with her uterus.

I'm a Megadeth fan, but I have to agree with this article.  He obviously endorsed Santorum without specifically using the word endorse.  Dave is a very insecure person who is filled with a lot of hate.  Although he calls himself a Christian, I have never once heard him say or do anything that could even remotely be considered Christianly.  One needs only to look at the history of Megadeth to know that Mustaine is a difficult and unreasonable person.  There have been 18 different lineups because he treats his band like a back up band.  Eventually they all get tired of being mistreated and leave.  David Ellefson has lasted the longest(although he even left for a while).  If you ask me, he's should qualify for sainthood for enduring the abuse.

You are a sad, angry woman. Hope you get over yourself one day.

Good for him for not bring a mindless liberal robot and having substantive opinions, whatever that substance may be. This article, on the other hand, lacks any substance or fairness and tries to attack him with nonsense for no purpose other than to trash whomever saying whatever positive about a Republican.

I love that whole idea that having a different opinion leads to being a "mindless liberal robot" whereas Mustaine has "substantive opinions". This whole theme of "we disagree therefore you must have some character flaw" is so counterproductive.

How about "someone said something positive about a Republican so dig up whatever I can to call him stupid." That's all this article is, minus any relevant or truthful evidence - just bigotry.

I'm referring to the potshots like the debunked story about Gingrich, referencing a silly research "study" about IQ, and ignoring any argument for Santorum's positions on those social issues mentioned or Mustane's concern about God being driven out of the classroom. I personally don't agree with either of them about those issues but I don't ignore the legitimacy of their arguments and assume that they're idiots for having them.

I should have clarified what I was saying. It was directed at the article, as well. Having said that, this is a blog called Freak Show, not a news article, so take that for what it is. I'm curious as to why you say this is "minus any....truthful evidence" (relevance is in the eye of the beholder) when there are direct quotes from Mustaine.

I am laughing so hard!  The tears... the tears!

Seriously, Mustaine is entertaining whenever he opens his mouth.  There are certain comments he makes that inspire one to scream at him, "Just shut up and play your damn guitar already!" because truly, he does that just fine.

Also, kids?  This is your brain AFTER drugs.  Incoherent, batshit crazy, unable to elucidate even a simple opinion clearly.
