Watch DJ Shadow's Blood-Boiling New Video, "Border Crossing"

The Occupy Wall Street Everywhere protests are stealing headlines this week. But for many, immigration and border politics remain one of the most backwards and unjust issues facing the country. Count among that group the Bay Area's DJ Shadow, whose new video for "Border Crossing" qualifies as a blood-boiling clip of near-agitprop. The song is harsh enough: It finds Shadow flipping a hard guitar riff into a uniform curtain of noise that hits like a metal fence to the face. The video, which splices together various clips of the Border Patrol power abuses and immigrants trying to cross fences and deserts, gives chilling visuals to a song that, except for its title, carries few explicit political messages. Taken together, though, there can be no missing the point of this:

Anyone else think maybe this was the video M.I.A. was trying to make with "Born Free"?
