Kreayshawn's Nardwuar Interview: Dissing Zachary's Pizza, Doing Homework Around Dildos

Maybe. In a new interview today with the Vancouver journalist/DJ/troublemaker Nardwuar, the Oakland-raisedKreayshawn spends approximately half the time talking about her mom, Elka Zolot, and the numerous bands she played in while Kreayshawn was growing up. As is his style, Narwuar gives Kreayshawn a pile of records tied to her past -- including a 1993 7-inch from her mother's band that called Natassia Zolot "the real spoiled brat" in the insert. Kreayshawn appears somewhat stunned by the sudden largesse of vinyl, even asking Narduwar whether he bought her a record player to listen to the gifts on.

But when the subject turns from Kreayshawn's mom to the breakout rap-pop star herself, she doesn't have much to say. Nardwuar tries to start a conversation about Oakland cuisine, mentioning Zachary's pizza. But that only gets him in trouble, as it turns out Kreayshawn hates Zachary's. Yes, really.

"Fuck Zachary's," she spits into the camera after Narduwar brings it up. "Fuck that fancy-ass pizza, man. We don't eat that shit in Oakland. That's fancy Oakland. We eat out the taco truck in Oakland."

In disbelief, Nardwuar really asks if she doesn't like the delicious local pizza joint that many people wait for hours to visit.

"That's not in Oakland," Kreayshawn insists, scolding Nardwuar. "It's in Piedmont. Piedmont is not Oakland, okay, they changed their name to Piedmont 'cause they didn't want to be associated with Oakland."

This is wrong -- Zachary's is in Oakland -- but whatever.
