DaVinci, Prince Aries, and More Are Playing Our Free Pop-Up Party Wednesday Night

Categories: Events

Hey, we're throwing a party!

With the Treasure Island Music Festival coming up, we just couldn't resist having a little opening night bash at the T.I. Pop-Up Shop at the San Franpsycho store in North Beach. So tomorrow night (Wednesday, Oct. 5), we're throwing a free get-together with S.F. rapper DaVinci -- whom you've seen us raving about lately -- and DJs Prince Aries, Ammbush, and our own columnist Derek Opperman.

Oh yeah, and there will be FREE BEER, too.

In case you need a refresher, DaVinci is the Fillmore-grown rhymespitter whose latest EP, Feast or Famine, spent the end of the summer blasting in our headphones. After a debut album that dealt with issues of gentrification in his native 'hood, DaVinci gets more personal and more powerful on Feast of Famine. (And if such things matter to you, he was rewarded for his efforts with a solid 8.0 review on Pitchfork.)

Backing DaVinci will be Ammbush of the SWTBRDS Collective, whose beatmaking we've found reason to praise time after time. And following DaVinci, we'll have none other than the Bay Area's own Prince Aries (of hip-hop TV show Distortion2Static fame), spinning records late into the night.

Kicking off the party will be our own DJ/writer Derek Opperman, whose nightlife column Lost in the Night has taken him to huge nightclubs in S.F., Jamaican restaurants in Oakland, and all sorts of venues in between.

Once again, this is a FREE party with FREE beer, going down Wednesday night at the San Franpyscho flagship store at 1314 Grant Ave. in North Beach. It's also a chance to also get tickets to Treasure Island Music Festival with no service charge and to peruse the photography of Adam Warmington.

Things kick off at 7 p.m. -- hopefully we'll see you there!
