The Sandwitches
Unlike their namesake, San Francisco's the Sandwitches are something of an acquired taste. Their rootsy, bare-bones rock can seem rough-hewn and somewhat difficult -- but given time, you begin to recognize the subtlety and emotional honesty in their songs, especially in the complementary voices of Heidi Alexander and Grace Cooper. The group's new album, How to Make Ambient Sadcake, finds the trio at its best, laying a somber gloss over grainy guitar-pop with surprisingly penetrating results.

Today the Sandwitches released two new videos off the album. The first, which premiered on the website of the Italian Vogue -- where you can also find photos of the band members stylishly rambling through S.F. -- is a straightforward performance of "Lightfoot" recorded at a ranch in Healdsburg. The second is a clip for "Back to the Sea" that lightheartedly explores the world of women who bowl. (Yes!) Watch both after the jump.
