Is Iron Maiden Really Better Than Metallica?

Categories: Metal

Iron Maiden is better than Metallica.

We don't necessarily agree, but that was the contention made by Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson in a recent interview with UK magazine Metal Hammer.

"You've just got to have a sense of fearlessness," the singer said, according to a posting on NME. "I got into trouble for saying that we're better than Metallica ... and it's true!"

"They might be bigger than us," said the 52-year-old frontman, "and they might sell more tickets than us and they might get more gold-plated middle-class bourgeoisie turning up to their shows, but they're not Maiden."

Agreed -- Metallica is not Maiden. But is that a liability? Leave your thoughts in the comments.

Metallica's last few albums have been terrible and I say that as a life long fan. Maiden on the other hand never fell off like Metallica has.

Metallica was inspired by Iron Maiden. What Bruce Dickinson said, is true. I am sure I'll never hear some Metallica member saying they're better than Iron Maiden. They're not the only bands that were inspired by Iron Maiden. Iron Maiden > Metallica.EDDIE IS THE MAN!!!UP THE IRONS!!!

music is an opinion, but I do think maiden is better and much more consistent

Killler and MAIDEN JAPAN are better albums than anything Metallica has ever put out...except for Ride the Lightning.

He's just sour because Metallica favors the Paul Di'Anno songs.  They did an amazing cover of Remember Tomorrow recently.
