Prince Announces Two Shows in San Jose Next Week
He's back next week!
Well, this is typically surprising: In the midst of his 21-date SoCal residence, Prince's Welcome 2 America tour is heading back to San Jose for two shows at HP Pavilion next week. This of course comes two months after his three-night string at Oracle Arena in Oakland, which we saw, and which pretty much ruled.
Lately Prince has been making news for playing a tiny show at L.A.'s Troubadour that consisted of a little more jazz-funk than some people would have liked. (But as critic Ann Powers pointed out, "It's one thing he does.")
Sure, sure, but here's hoping we get some more hits next week.
Prince hits HP Pavilion on Thursday, May 19, and Saturday, May 21. We can't help but notice that this schedule leaves a Friday night in the Bay Area open -- keep your ears peeled and your eyes on this blog, because you never know what might happen with that. (The guy is known for announcing last-minute crazy shows, after all. A surprise appearance at, say, the Fillmore wouldn't be his first, and the legendary S.F. ballroom is enticingly vacant that night.)
Fingers crossed, anyway. Tickets for the HP Pavilion shows go on sale at noon Saturday.
