Kreayshawn's White Girl Mob Is Coming to Kill Your Dog

Of the 989,372 times that this video has been played in its one and a half week long lifespan (as of this writing), I'm pretty sure somewhere between two hundred to four hundred of those plays have come from my laptop. In the past 24 hours. This song is a killer. The beat is heavy, heavy, heavy, with those swirlingly farty synths familiar to dubstep fans; the hook, "Gucci-Gucci-Louis-Louis-Fendi-Fendi-Prada / Basic bitches wear that shit, so I don't even bother," is clever, catchy (and maybe a little bit empowering, if I do say so myself); and the rhymes are top notch, whether it's the every-review-will-quote-this line, "I got the swag and it's pumping out my ovaries," or the brilliant fuck you line, "Bitch, you ain't no Barbie, I see you work at Arby's / number two, supersize, hurry up, I'm starving," which is still funny through the 50th listen. Basically, the thing is hot, and as far as I know, still only available in YouTube form. It's one way to get the play count up, though.

Kreayshawn (pronounced "kray-shawn" and still misspelled by me every time I write it) comes from East Oakland -- though according to her blog she lives in Los Angeles -- and is the daughter of the guitarist for the legendarily unknown Oakland garage girl group the Trashwomen. She's been to Berkeley film school, and has filmed some of Lil B's videos. Swag pumping out her ovaries, indeed.

The track "Gucci Gucci" is by far her best, though her free mixtape Kittys X Choppas has some hot tracks on it, too, with more of the heavy beats ("Mobb Freestyle") and clever lines like "Hoes on my dick 'cause I look like Madonna" that make "Gucci Gucci" so great.

That Kreayshawn is a white girl isn't a novelty; she can use it to her advantage, like when she talks about how mean her cat is (literally: "I'll kill your dog and your little brother too / Man, but I won't kill your cat, I'll put her in a bag and take her to my house / Put her on my couch and let my cat go at her") or the white girl mob, but really, she's not good despite being a white girl, she's just good. Now if you haven't already, listen to "Gucci Gucci." It's best to start now, cause I'm sure you'll be hearing it pumping from every Bay Area radio through the summer.

Kreayshawn will perform at Som Bar with White Girl Mob (Lil Debbie and V Nasty) this Friday, May 27.
