• I’m hoping that you’ll be my little godsend, cuz right now I’ll take any, and blindly. Why so pathetic? If I don’t go now then I might not never. Now I'm waiting for an answer patiently, stuck here at the bottom of this well. Patience is a virtue. Until its silence burns you. This is beginning to feel like the long-winded blues of the never. We won’t know the actual if we never take the chance. I don’t want to waste my life in the middle of a lovesick lullabye. A heart doesn’t play by rules, and love (or fandom) has its own demands. It’s just a pornographic adulationship. Please don’t make my love (for TVOTR) a sucker bet.

• With my bulging backpack, a severe caffeine dependency and a chronic sleep deficiency, my little high school self trotted over to the record store for my first TV on the Radio album. I had only heard New Health Rock, but I knew I needed to hear the rest. Years later, I traveled up to the Bay to keep my friend company as she adjusted to her new city, having the one goal of seeing TV on the Radio at Treasure Island. Her apartment was all kinds of a mess, and we slept on the floor. We arrived at Treasure Island, spending a few coins for the the poem man to write about “white supremacist capitalist patriarchy” (we were recent college graduates). We gravitated towards our fellow POCs, and danced the night away. After that night, for my friend the Bay finally started to feel like home! I still need my coffee, get far too little sleep, and will be carrying another huge backpack out of the Bay and the U.S. in a few months. The Bay has been my home too, and I will be leaving my dear friend. I’d love to spend this Saturday night with her to appreciate the life that I have, share in the heartbreak for the passing of Gerard, and shake my booty just a lil’ bit more.

• As much as I would like to support the cause of Aeryka21 below me here I have to say anyone that is a Tv on the radio fan has been a sort of music outcast for awhile.. I have actually been at the precipice of greatness last time TVOTR came to town at The Independent I waited at the door when the "bouncer" scanned our tickets and told us these tickets had already been used... We had been bamboozled by the internet thieves, needless to say my friend and I were heartbroken and I have never jumped at the chance again to see TVOTR but now that I have heard the "Nine Types of Light" album the feeling of indie love came rushing back. I have been an avid bay area concert goer, I have seen the likes of Neil Diamond all the way to a Futuristic protopunk "Doors" cover band. Please give me another chance to enjoy this band, the live clips on youtube just don't fill the hole in my heart that was once filled with this band. I am a student, I am a worker, but first and foremost I am a music lover and TV on the radio was one of my first loves, like that girl in high school that broke your heart one more chance is all I ask for. footballover494@yahoo.com

• I thought I was devastated when I learned that the shows at the Independent---which fall almost exactly five years (to the day!) after my first TVoTR show---were sold out. My first TVoTR show holds a tender, tender place in my heart for a few reasons. It was my first time seeing my favorite band, yes. But it was also the first show I attended with my lovely fiancé (whom I'd invited after only two dates a few weeks earlier after his being--and his reaction to the New Health Rock EP--proved to me that he was worthy of that second ticket). We even hunted down a signed and numbered copy of the gig poster from that prior two-night stand at the Independent to hang in our kitchen. But I guess I only THOUGHT I was devastated. I am truly saddened by the passing of Gerard Smith and find my desire for the tickets greatly tempered. How can it matter now? At the same time, I really, really do wish I could be there to see how they manage to celebrate his life through their music---because I know if any band can soldier on in the face of such heartbreak, it is TV on the Radio.

• 1) I have never won anything in my life. Except a few S. Ports games when I was a young child. 2) Sometimes you find a band that speaks to you. I mean literally, not figuratively. "You. You're the only one I ever loved." Which I know is directed at me. Which is why I should probably be at the show. 3) Sometimes, people really do get picked at random from the audience to participate in the Cirque du Soleil show. And I hope I am that person. Except for this show. Clowns are scary. 4) I'm moving to Uganda June 1st to research Pediatric Malaria. And I could use some TVOTR fuel before taking off on that jet plane.

• I'd love to see TVOTR at the Independent, since it's their victory lap of sorts. This time around, they've gotten big enough that, although they could sell out much larger venues, they're choosing to play a couple nights at the Independent as a thank-you to their fans. The first time I saw TVOTR was 2003 when they played the back room of a tiny, unventilated club in Washington, D.C., as the opening act. They were as-yet unsigned, but completely wonderful, and gave it their all for the 50-or so people crammed around the little stage. Although the Independent isn't tiny by any standard, and it boasts one helluva sound system, this would still be a fitting opportunity to see a favorite band in a comparatively intimate venue. I'm sure they'll kill it again, and I would love to be there!

• After composing several drafts for this comment, downloading a web browser that could open the comment box, and then taking a much needed nap, I am writing to say that I would greatly appreciate the tickets to TOTR. Several times this week I was caught dancing in my chair by my boss because I was listening to their new album. I don't think my job is at risk, but if that makes me a better candidate, then yes, I do take risks for this band. -A Loyal Fan

• 1) I love this band I am a huge fan. Aren't we all? Tunde Adebimpe also has the coolest frontman name ever. 2) I need to get tickets from SF Weekly now that KUSF is all gone. . . 3) I am a poor student who has lots of finals and won't leave the library for about a month after this show. Please make this my last hurrah. 4) Their shows always sell out so I have never gotten to see them. 5) I will be dancing like crazy and make everyone around me dance also.

• Playing in a band in NYC wasn't easy. Poverty became the square meal of the day. So when I say I bought one new release album in four years, I mean exactly that. That album was Dear Science. Two years earlier, upon the release of Return to Cookie Mountain, I had my first auditory glimpse of TV on The Radio. Besides being the most unique music I'd ever heard, I was blown away by its mood, the imagery, off-beat syncopation and soulful voices, sensual and passionate in their desperation. No one band had so thoroughly encompassed the wary and unsteady ascent into adulthood amidst a world of sheer turmoil. By the end of 2006, I had memorized Desperate Youth... and Cookie Mountain, each note and word welded to every neuron in my body. Now, when I hear it, it's like an instant emotional and cognitive attachment to the music. So much so that I have chosen Return to Cookie Mountain as the exclusive soundtrack to a dystopian satire novel I'm writing. In the four years I've adored this band, I've never had the money to see them and it saddens me that I constantly miss what promises to be a thoroughly spiritual experience, like an indie kid tent revival. I hope whoever ends up getting the tickets feels the profundity of my love for this music. Even if it isn't me, hey, at least I've got my neurons.

• i met my now ex-girlfriend nearly two years ago after the TVOTR concert at the Fox. we both ended up at Radio Bar (oh, then irony) where I mustered up the courage to talk to her. We ended up riding BART home together (we both live in the Mission) and shared our love of the band and The City and food and drink and whatnot. our love didn't last (just under a year), but our love of TVOTR has remained (Ambulance was our song). anyway, my plan is to surprise her with tickets to the show. we never got a chance to see the band as lovers, but maybe now we could see them as friends. cheers and thanks.

• I should be able to go for many reasons, first and foremost: I will be turning 21 on April 30th, 2011 (I can show my California ID and Birth Certificate for proof if no one believes me). I have been listening to TVOTR since they came out years ago when I was in high school and everyone made fun of me and my "weird" music. They are my only favorite band whom I have never been able to see live (I am Cry-i-i-ing about this) because I was never able to afford it or never in the right place at the right time. I have been so busy with work and school at SFSU this semester, by the time I found out their tour dates for San Francisco, they have been sold out for days. • The first time I heard TVOTR I wondered why anyone would want to listen to television shows on a radio, I know they used to make silent films, but audible only television shows really take the cake. I started searching radio stations to find one that was airing these audible only television shows, it took a while but I ended up finally finding it on AM radio. It was boring at first, but then I started imagining the fat balding middle aged men who were talking and it made me feel much better about myself. Driving around in my foreign car, with expensive sunglasses and a bottle of Evian water next to me, I realized these guys are telling a story that nobody wants to hear. I stopped listening to audible only television shows on the radio, but for some I realize its a great way to escape from reality.

• My wife and I recently got married and moved to the bay area - we've had some rough patches with school, work, and a sick puppy crop up since then. We love TV on the Radio and have been hoping to see them for the last few years - checking up every few weeks to see if they'd be playing near us. We just saw they'd be in town and were so pumped last night, blasting the new album and just rocking out. I tried to buy the tix at noon, but the rascals horded the tickets. She will be so disappointed when she comes home. This is such a bright patch in a somewhat cloudy patch of life. Make our month please?

• I NEED to go to this show!! I had a pass to see them at SXSW and it got taken out of my bag while i was buying a drink!! on top of that, I tried to buy tickets when they went on sale for the SF show and it sold out in 6 minutes.. my computer was slow at work and ruined it for me! TV has been a band I have loved for years and reminds me of living in New York and the fact that I have missed them 2 times in 2 months makes me go crazy. I would LOVe to have a pair of these tickets because otherwise i know i will be sitting outside the venue with a glass up to the wall..

• I am TV on the Radio's most dedicated fan. Never have missed a bay area show, even while pregnant! My son and I totally rock out with thief music all the time. I love Tv on the Radio because their music is so August and unique. I love the eclecticness and tasteful artistry that each song resonates. Pick me please!!!

• I'm a fan...but my girlfriend is the biggest fan of TVOTR. And she tried and failed to get tickets to this show right as they went on sale at noon. She just called to tell me this and it broke my heart to listen to the disappointment in her voice. But, don't give the tickets to me because I asked nicely. And, don't give the tickets to my wonderful girlfriend because it would make her ecstatically happy. Give them to both of us just to SCREW THOSE WEASELS who ALWAYS buy up all the tickets to the BEST SHOWS and sell them for a PROFIT on craigslist.

• Because TVOTR is awesome, the album is sweet (listened to it on Rhapsody), the Independent is a kickin' venue, the shows are on Friday and Saturday nights so I can get nice and liquored up with out hating work the next morning, and because I was on the site at noon to buy tickets and they sold out immediately and I didn't get one. :(
