Is there a better time for indie-pop than late spring? Clearly not. Sunshine and lovebirds are why S.F. Popfest goes down around Memorial Day; for 2011, the festival is expanding to five days of three-chord whimsy from 25 bands. It's a solid-as-hell lineup, too: the big stunner for us are Irish lads the Undertones, whose "Teenage Kicks" might be the best guitar-pop song of all time (at least influential U.K. DJ John Peel thought so). But we're also excited to see London's soon-to-be-twee-greats Allo Darlin' back stateside, the ol' C86 outfit 14 Iced Bears, and plenty of weirdo-pop locals: the Art Museums, Brilliant Colors, and Dominant Legs. There are more -- many more -- so wake up, smell the springtime, and come this way for a free mix of the artists playing S.F. Popfest 2011.

The festival goes down in venues such as Hemlock Tavern, the Rickshaw Stop, and Cafe Du Nord from May 25 to 29.  And speaking of things that San Franciscans do in the spring, there's even an acoustic Sunday set at Dolores Park. Full lineup and details on the S.F. Popfest website, of course; in the meantime, prepare to get your teenage kicks:
