Reminder: Crazy Punks OFF! Rouse the Eagle Tavern Tonight

This -- but in a leather bar.

In under two years, OFF! -- the cantankerous L.A. punk group that features members of the Circle Jerks, Black Flag, and Rocket From the Crypt -- has gone from newbie status to national phenomenon, reminding a generation of happy-go-lucky sellouts what punk ideals really look like. The group's played festivals small and large, made a loud-as-hell impression at SXSW, and earned a reputation for giving extremely entertaining interviews.

With such notoriety, the group could easily play a midsize venue in punk-friendly San Francisco. But instead of headlining Slim's or the Independent, OFF! is playing endangered gay haven/leather bar/temple of awesomeness the Eagle Tavern -- tonight!

Sounds crazy, right? But OFF! will grace a tiny stage best known for hosting sets from S.F. garage outfits like Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall, both of whom will return next Tuesday. (The Eagle's stage is also well-known as the only way into the Eagle's ladies' room.)

We shouldn't have to remind you that the Eagle Tavern is facing an uncertain future due to its reticent new landlord. The bar is safe through May, but after that, no one's sure what will happen. Eagle booker Doug Hilsinger told us he went to extra lengths to see that OFF! plays there, so for a lot of reasons, tonight should be a special occasion. The action starts at 9 p.m., and it'll cost you $10 to get in the door.
