Tune-Yards' Merrill Garbus
We've already sung the praises of Tune-Yards new album, w h o k i l l, here once before. But today, the whole album's up on NPR for you to stream. We recommend you do. With w h o k i l l, Oakland-based Merril Garbus has blown way past her project's lo-fi roots and into a fascinating musical space between R&B, folk, rock, jazz, and Afro-pop. Yet none of those labels fit the music she's making, which is challenging, danceable, complex, and also kind of confounding.

Also, there's Garbus' voice, which is amazing. Aaaaamazing. Just trust us.

w h o k i l l  is already getting attention from the likes of Rolling Stone and NPR, and it deserves it. Stream the album on NPR here; also, download the first single, "Bizness." The album's out for reals next week; Tune-Yards plays Great American Music Hall on April 26.

A few especially recommended tracks to check out on w h o k i l l:
Es-So
Powa
Bizness
Doorstep
