New Lumerians Video Puts the Psychedelic in Psychedelic Rock

Remember when we all had CRT computer monitors and we could degauss them, making the screen go all trippy for a split second, and then we wouldn't be able to do it again for a couple days? This is just one of the many things you could try to think about while this video by Lumerians, Oakland's prize pony in the Bay Area gloom-folk horse race, saps your ability to concentrate.
The song is called "Gaussian Castles," and it's the second single from Lumerians' debut album, Transmalinnia, out two weeks ago on Knitting Factory Records. (Listen to the first, "Atlanta Brook," over at The Bay Bridged.) This one's a little more methodical than the last, a hallucination unto itself complete with cavernous room, ominous reverb and far-off galloping drums. But even better is the video, which scans like the unholy lovechild of an iTunes visualization algorithm and a year's worth of footage of the Serengeti compressed into five minutes.
