Learn How To Not Be a Shitty DJ at Red Bull Music Academy Next Week

Categories: Events
Oh, so  you got SeratoAbleton, and/or your dad's Les Paul, and now you think you're the man (or woman)? You think you're ready for the stage? For a band? For a DJ contest? You think you actually need that Soundcloud account that no one actually listens to?

Yeah right.

You don't know shit about making music. Best to just admit that. But even if you do, you might want to RSVP for the Red Bull Music Academy on Monday, where you vocalists, instrumentalists, DJs, and producers can get schooled in the ways of musical awesomeness by seasoned pros for the price of nothing.

Those pros include XLR8R's Ken Taylor, who is hosting, instrument designers and synth pioneer Dave Smith and Roger Linn, and DFA/Beats in Space DJ/producer Tim Sweeney. They're holding workshops and info sessions next Monday evening at Public Works from 6:30 to 9:30. The sessions are intended for those interested in applying to go to the full Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo later this year, so space is limited. But you can RSVP here.

After school lets out on Monday, you kiddies can head over for a special show at SOM Bar, where Trackademicks, Tim Sweeney, Teeko, and others will show how things are done in public. The show goes from 9 p.m. until close, and it's $5.

It's sure to be an educational night. And that's just what you need.
