Salva Channels the Spirit of Sun Ra for New Video 'Weeeird Science'
![]() |
Salva's new album, Complex Housing, is pretty damn good. And to go along with the album, he's dropped his first video in the form of "Weeeird Science," which is over three minutes of Salva's lithe and futuristic productions set to rearranged and augmented clips from Sun Ra's Space Is The Place.
If you've never seen Sun Ra's 1974 film, the Afro-futuristic companion piece to the classic jazz album of the same name is the next best thing to an actual chemical trip. It's packed with awkward looking spaceships, hooded aliens, ancient Egyptian mysticism, and, of course, Sun Ra.

For "Weeeird Science," Salva took the film and shuffled it into a completely different narrative, then layered his own visual effects on top for an experience that might be even more psychedelic than the original. All I know is that I want to wear that helmet on my head.----
