The Top 6 Reasons Why Huey Lewis and the News Aren't Playing S.F. on Their Current Tour

Eighties pop-rock icon and Marin County pretty boy Huey Lewis and his longtime band the News recently recorded a new album of Stax covers called Soulsville. To support the new record, Huey and the News are going on tour. Trouble is, they're not playing San Francisco -- at least not according to the schedule that was released yesterday. Huey's famously from the Bay Area -- so why isn't he performing for his (that is, we) hometown adorers? Here are the top six reasons you won't catch Huey playing in San Fran anytime soon.

6. Love isn't powered by bicycles, solar panels, or good intentions.

5. It's still hip to be square -- and most S.F. denizens aren't square at all. (Though he could always play at the Concord Pavilion -- errr, sorry, the Sleep Train Pavilion at Concord.)

4. Another Bay Area band (called Weekend) shook Huey's confidence by releasing a pretty decent album called Sports.

3. The heart of rock 'n' roll will only beat at obscure casinos in Mississippi and Arizona.

2. We've already tried all the new drugs (and discovered they're not any better than the old ones).

1. This really is it -- Huey's done with the Bay Area, and he's saying so.
