This New Beep Video Will Give You Nightmares About Going to the Doctor

Scary!

Maybe it's just us, but this trippy first video from jazzy San Francisco experimental outfit Beep looks very much like the nightmares we used to get as a kid after staring for too long at the posters on our doctor's wall. Weird hip-bone bubbles, pulsating human organs, 19th-century medical devices, and -- gasp! -- the dudes in the band brushing their teeth. Watch the freakshow in full after the jump.

What's not nightmarish here is Beep's nifty blend of arty noise and minimal jazz. (To be fair, both the song and the video get a bit more relatable halfway through.)

It's also not at all surprising that Beep shares members with Tune-Yards, a musical project that makes your average San Francisco artist look like a straight-laced Iowa corn farmer. We're a step down from that mind-bombery here, but still pretty far out there.

Beep plays this Sunday (Jan. 23) at the Hemlock in celebration of its newest album, City of the Future (out this Tuesday on Third Culture), a Sun Ra-esque melange of warm tones and cosmic weirdness. If this video's any telling, the show may give you nightmares -- but at least they'll be really vivid, cool ones set to an alluring soundtrack.
