Reality Check: The Past Decade At A Glance

Categories: New Year's Eve

Future-minded Gawker affiliate io9 has compiled a lil' infographic, all the more pregnant in its brevity, about how the world changed between 2000 and 2010. Our population grew by nearly a billion people in just ten years? Spine-tingly-dingling.

The "entertainment" section of the graphic is disappointingly slim; maybe we can put our heads together (excuse me, "crowdsource ourselves") to articulate how the music industry has changed. Like, did iPods even exist in 2000?

And good heavens, what are we to expect when we take stock of our demographic data in 2020? That is, if we even survive the Mayan apocalypse. Will the planet as we know it get even hotter, flatter, and crowdeder?

At least we know things will return to some semblance of normalcy in another millennium and change.
