Ohio-via-Philly producer Rjd2, the best instrumental hip-hop beatsmith in the country circa 2002, has been keeping busy. This February will see the release of We Are The Doorways, the debut full-length from his return-to-form side project The Insane Warrior, mere months after his latest LP, The Colossus, and its companion piece, Inversions of the Colossus. He'll also be playing at the Freeborn Hall in Davis at the end of the month, so ack like you know.
In preparation for all this early-2011 madness, he's tossed up a free EP containing three remixes of "The Glow," from The Colossus, on his Bandcamp site. All three remixes add some welcome bump-n-grind to the sunny pop of the original: Chicago's Flosstradamus turns it into a seven-minute-plus slab of party funk, Italian mixmaestro Paolo Palazzo slips in an insidious dubstep bassline, and UK upstart Candy Panther smooves it out with a subtle microdub bristle. (If only you could see how many words in this paragraph are red-underlined right now.)
Anyway, cop it here, this week only. Then bump some Deadringer, for old time's sake.
