Gang of Four, Renewed with Fresh 'Content,' Plays the Fillmore Next Month

Categories: Show To Know
Men or post-punks?
Gang of Four, the band of British chaps whose brittle, awkwardly funky post-punk inspired a legion of imitators in the early aughts, somehow still exists. Its seventh studio album -- the first in 16 years, under the meta-appropriate name Content, is due out Jan. 25. Fittingly, the band (or at least two of its original members) will be in tour in support of said album, and have plans to appear, should you so desire, right before your eyes.

Given that Gang of Four is the sort of band you used to read about in old Greil Marcus books and hear about from even older O.G. punks, its somewhat surprising to see its members (sort of) reunited under a new album and touring like, well, a regular band.  We kind of thought Gang of Four was immortally young, obscure, and angry. And we still might be right, at least about the last part. We'll find out on Feb. 19, when the Gang plays the Fillmore.
