​This criterion would have made a fantastic addition to our investigation into what makes a "supergroup": Your impromptu bassist is a simmering teen hearthrob of the aw-shucks indie variety.

Or, hell: Your impromptu bassist is freaking Michael Cera. 

See him play a rock star in real life tonight, San Francisco. With a "supergroup."

We're not even close to kidding.

According to Seattle's the Stranger, and the indie Eye of Sauron Pitchfork, Cera is playing bass for Mister Heavenly (a new project from members of Modest Mouse, Islands, and Man Man) on the new band's first West Coast tour.

Mister Heavenly hits Cafe Du Nord tonight, and though Cera isn't a permanent member, he'll be on the four-string, according to a spokesperson for Mister Heavenly's label, Sub Pop.

Still waiting for word on whether Cera will also be signing your DVD copies of Juno.
