Boys IV Men Don't Need No Stinking Laptops

Boys IV Men
If your Friday nights consist of body-slamming on the dance floor while pounding shots to bass-heavy beats, you'll almost certainly enjoy San Francisco's Boyz IV Men. With song titles such as "The Bomb Dot Com," there's pretty much no question about this outfit's party credentials. Members Trevor Goosen, Josh Hill, and Aaron Rodrigue both perform as a live electronic band and occasionally spin records in DJ sets around the city. Boys IV Men has been known to rock the pants off of toddlers and senior citizens, so don't miss a chance to lose yours when they open for Mr. Oizo at 103 Harriet tomorrow night (Friday Dec. 3).

What's the worst thing people assume about you guys?
That we are members of NAMBLA and that we rely on laptops to make our music.

Since you are a boy band, if you could form a supergroup of all girls, who would you choose to be in it?
Our ideal supergroup would consist of synth and bass from Shannon Funches (Light Asylum and !!!), Valerie Scroggins (ESG) on drums, and vocals from Ida No (Glass Candy). It would be the bomb!

How did you all meet and get into producing?
Trevor Goosen and Josh Hill grew up in Sacramento while playing in separate bands. Both moved to San Francisco and reconnected with each other. The two joined forces with Aaron Rodriguez and formed Boyz IV Men.

It's 5 a.m. and you're hungry after a night of sweat-packed partying. What do you reach for?
Trevor: A hooker named Josh, with a purse full of uppers and Viagra.
Aaron: My chakras DVD, a fist-full of echinacea, and a bottle of Patron.
Josh: Trevor's dick.
Then we all get burritos afterwards, duh.

Delicious. You guys are opening for Mr. Oizo. How does it make you guys feel?
Stoked, sweaty, and bummed that we don't speak French.

"The Bomb Dot Com" is a rad song title. Do gems like this just come out of thin air?
Our song titles come from us constantly spewing nonsense out of our mouths while hanging out.

What's the worst experience you've had at a club?
We played a warehouse show a few months ago where an amp was accidentally knocked off the stage in the middle of our set. We are still waiting for the amp to be replaced.

Set your music to an action film. What does it look like?
Imagine Terminator meets Richard Simmons. Eating hot dogs and blasting off laser rounds. Yeah!

What do you guys miss about S.F. when you're out on the road? Bums and homeless people, right?
We miss our friends and fans, most of which are awesome bums.

Boys IV Men open for Mr. Oizo Friday at 103 Harriet, and have an "epic" New Year's party in the works.
