It can be weird to see your favorite Internet stars in real life, and certainly, not all of the web-famous (especially among musicians) are ready for the live spotlight in a way that, say, Justin Bieber is (uh, debatable). That's a roundabout way of saying that we're especially curious to see Pomplamoose, a Marin duo known internationally for the funny and highly-skilled YouTube videos it makes covering famous songs. Shortly, we will get a chance: having not performed live in nearly year, Pomplamoose is coming to the Warfield this New Year's Eve (see above for a full explanation).
Jack Conte and Nataly Dawn are known for one other thing besides the videos that cleverly show them remaking "Put A Ring On It" and "Telephone" (and show every instrument they used in remaking the song): earning money on YouTube. They are are among the few artists actually supported by the millions and millions of views they get on the video site. (You can also buy their music on iTunes.) Their songs are also giggle-inducing fun.
Check out some of their videos (below) to see what we mean. And catch Pomplamoose live at the Warfield in S.F. on New Years Eve, opening for the Dresden Dolls.
