Two Kanye West Songs For The World Series-Winning SF Giants

Categories: Music + Sports

In case you were in a soundproof panic room between 8 p.m. and roughly right now, the Giants won the World Series last night. To help you sort out the complex emotions you are no doubt feeling, here are two apropos songs by Kanye West, both from before the whole I'ma-tweet-about-letting-my-phoenix-finish minefield of celebrity.

"We Major" (feat. Nas & Really Doe), from 2005's Late Registration

Whew! That was festive! He's right, a World Series victory after 56 years does feel even better than some head on a Sunday afternoon. (To be fair, Kanye hails from Chicago, whose damnably beloved Cubs haven't won the title since 1908.)

But it hasn't been all roses and champagne and setting MUNI buses on fire. Former Giants slugger Barry Bonds was pulled over after the game last night for not speeding around and honking his horn like a douche, just a new installment in a veritable litany of legal troubles. What better way to capture the bittersweetness than with a song about him with a cameo from a rapper about to be released from his own prison stint?

"Barry Bonds" (feat. Lil Wayne), from 2007's Graduation

What's that? One more? Okay, fine, here's a toast for all the horn-honkers out there. (Watch the bewildering full version here.)

"Runaway"
(feat. Pusha T), from 2010's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy
