My, my, hey hey: The hottest S.F. concert ticket this December might just be a benefit concert for the new UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.
The headliner: A Canada-born, now-local folk-rock singer (who's had some car trouble lately) by the name of Neil Young.
The opener: A freaky California-born folk songstress (who may have recently released her magnum opus) by the name of Joanna Newsom.
The price: Will make your eyeballs pop out of your head when you see it after the jump -- but it goes for a good cause.
Five hundred clams is the cheapest ticket to the Benoiff hospital benefit at Nob Hill Masonic Center Dec. 8. But you can spend nearly as much as you want; ticket revenues go to help build the 183-bed facility, which is due to open in Mission Bay in 2014. If titles are your thing, well, you can be a Rock Idol for $100,000. You can be a Rock Legend for half that -- and still get cocktails, dessert, and hear the introduction from Colin Powell.
But when the health of children is at stake -- along with a shot at seeing one of the most important musicians of our time -- it's good to throw down as much as you can, we think.
