Live 105's Not So Silent Night: Smashing Pumpkins, My Chemical Romance, Phoenix, the Black Keys
If the stink of dirty '90s flannel wasn't already wafting off this year in music, hell, it sure is now. Playing next month at
But aside from that (and if you believe some critics, Smashing Pumpkins might still kick ass live) -- oh, and aside from My Chemical Romance, a name our fingers don't really like to type -- the concert bill's pretty good.
Isn't it? Look, we get the Black Keys, whose growth from small-time Sleater Kinney opening material to frat-boy favorites (and Fox headliners) hasn't made them any less likable; and Phoenix, the French electro-rockers who wowed thousands at Outside Lands. And while I didn't have anything nice to say about Broken Bells when I saw them -- they're on the bill at HP Pavilion, too!
All in all, solid. Because, yes, we're sort of excited to see Smashing Pumpkins, too. (Tickets for the annual holiday concert go on sale this Saturday.)
