Sculpted abs aren't a terribly common trait among opera stars (big bones mean big lungs mean big voices) -- or music nerds, for that matter -- which might explain why SF Opera
is holding an open call for gym-rat males to fill paid stage parts in a production next year. The organization is particularly looking for those with talents in "push-ups, pull-ups, body strength, endurance, hand-over-hand, staged combat, and full-body control," according to a press release.
We don't know what, like, half of that stuff is, but we'll try to explain it more after the jump.
To get the part, you have to be 18 or older, have to be between 5-foot-11 and 6-foot-2, and you have to be able to rehearse 30 hours a week for about a month next year. You also have to be seriously fit:
You don't need to be a Navy Seal, but we're looking for something close. This opportunity is the chance of a lifetime for ten talented men who will have the chance to show off their physical prowess to a crowd of thousands and to work alongside some of the most prominent names in opera and theater.
No word yet on what production these 10 beautiful specimens will be showing off their prowess in. But if this sort of thing interests you, and you've got the guns to make it, auditions are being held the afternoon of December 4. More details here
