From John Cage to Thom Yorke, Via Pootie Tang: The Sounds of Silence

By now you've probably heard, or heard about, 2 Minute Silence, the charity single "recorded" by an incredibly grizzled-looking Thom Yorke, along with Bryan Ferry, Mark Ronson, David Cameron and a few others, for the U.K.'s Remembrance Day earlier this month.

The nod to John Cage's canonical 4'33" is evident, but what about the nod to Louis C.K.'s early-aughts masterpiece, Pootie Tang? After the jump, the silence that speaks volumes.

That cigar-chomping Andy Richter plays a nameless record company exec, but he might as well be a young Harold Bloom witnessing The Anxiety of Influence for the first time. Exciting!
