Here we go with a little something to get the blood flowing: "Older," a jaunty track from the Brooklyn/S.F. trio
French Miami's upcoming album
Motor Skills, which drops November 16. Imagine Surfer Blood on a musical journey with King Sunny Ade and you're probably hearing this in your head already: a little indie-rock, a little Afro-pop -- but with less Simonesque sheen (and more synth) than Vampire Weekend. Hear it for reals after the jump.
"Older" throws a stuttering guitar/synth pulse under heavily-reverbed vocals. The roughly three-minute song contains only about two interchangeable parts, but a solid groove staves off the monotony. Overall, this is a pleasing introduction to the next record from French Miami -- a band whose name always makes us giggle.
