Brett Anderson and Paul Stinson of the Stripminers
What have the Donnas been up to lately? We honestly haven't been keeping track of the Palo Alto girl-punks. But lead Donna Brett Anderson has a new punk-Americana project with Paul Stinson of the Radishes called the Stripminers, and we've got two new tracks from their upcoming single for you to download after the jump.

The first track here, "No Luck," comes through all words and tension, the dual vocal assault singing kind of a lovesick punk-blues. It contrasts rather sharply (and we might say pleasingly!) with "Better Than a Song," a moody, banjo-tinted number that also features both of their voices on the aching refrain, "I can love you better than a song." We do appreciate their suggestion of romantic attachment to songs.

The Stripminers will show off some of their new songs as guests at the Elbo Room next Monday.
