Small Craft On a Milk Sea, the 25th (!) solo album from oblique strategist and art-tronic music O.G. Brian Eno, isn't out until next week -- on Warp Records, in a partnering of great karmic appropriateness -- but you can stream it now courtesy of NPR's First Listen. At the aural equivalent of first glance, his compassionate alien sensibilities have aged well: Small Craft splits the difference between his seminal four-volume Ambient series and his edgier art-rock leanings, indulging brooding drones and percussive netherworlds in equal measure.

Much of the record was made in collaboration with studio gunslingers Jon Hopkins and Leo Abrahams, along with the aid of a few helpings of random structure inspired by the abstract notion of film scores, but not all is smooth corners and dreamy burbling: check out the busy savagery of "Horse" and the dark, sub-Dust Bros. paranoia of "2 Forms of Anger." Hell, "Paleosonic" is practically a rock song!

Stream the record here and find details on pre-ordering it, in various shades of handsome artifact, here.

(For good measure, fellow Roxy Musician Bryan Ferry released album no. 13, Olympia, yesterday on Virgin Records.)
