Wallpaper's Ricky Reed and Arjun Singh

Maybe you were lucky enough to be at Treasure Island in the noon hour this past Saturday, when Oakland dance-pop outfit Wallpaper's Ricky Reed and Arjun Singh sent a loving midday crowd into a hip-shaking frenzy along with a battery of hand drummers. If you were, you would've heard this newish tune, "Indian Summer." If you weren't, well, trust us: Wallpaper's new banger is worth a listen.

Reed (given name: Eric Frederic) explained onstage that he'd recently finished this song, and it certainly sounds it was inspired by the kind of late-summer weather we were having up until this past weekend. It's got a quick tempo, multi-layered percussion, lyrics about a lady dancing in the street, falsetto vocals via Reed, and a breezy, synth-laden chorus about feelin' good. Summer proper may be gone for 2010, but the Bay Area version lives on in this song.
