Yes, this new video from local freaks Still Flyin' is apparently the effusively ironic, tongue-in-cheek ode to "Smooth Criminal," Miami Vice, and the like that it seems. Lead weirdo Sean Rawls says it was filmed late one Sunday night in Athens, Georgia, where no booze is sold on Sundays, hence the empty streets/loner-dude setting and eerie vibes. Clues to apparent ironic intent include: headbands, pastel blazers, shilouettes of rum cocktails, and the alley dancing at that closes things out. Not that you really needed any clues.
This comes from the San Francisco-via-the-world collective Still Flyin', whose love for pastels, '80s kitsch, and smooth music is never to be underestimated. The song's not a bad '80s gag either, even if it is about 90 seconds longer than it should be.
