'FUN'? Not this year.

Six years of early October revelry in Civic Center will come to an end this year after San Francisco officials denied the organizers of LovEvolution a permit to hold the annual dance party.

With no permit to hold the event, organizers decided to cancel it, and hope to return next year.

"After five months of discussions, in the end, we decided that it would be best to re-group, reinvent and come back even better than ever next year," says a statement on the LovEvolution website. "That is fully our intention."

The festival drew upwards of 100,000 people last year, according to the Chron, but city officials denied the permit out of "safety concerns." The various floats and stages included performers such as The Martinez Brothers, Danny Howells, and Lee Burridge spinning styles from tech-house to dubstep.

According to the Examiner, city officials cited "a rash of violence associated with San Francisco entertainment events this summer, and a similar event [the Love Parade] in Germany resulting in 21 deaths and 500 injuries."

LovEvolution organizers had hoped to move the party to Candlestick Park, but according to the Chron, didn't have detailed enough plans to sell the idea to city officials. Organizers of the party hope to bring it back next year to the Polo Fields in Golden Gate Park, or possibly to Oakland.
