Weezer's Rivers Cuomo tries to hug fans into believing he never hated Pinkerton

Well, this is pretty much the best piece of Weezer news since the '90s.

Finally heeding the calls of legions of (correct) fans who have long held up sophomore effort Pinkerton as the group's masterpiece, Weezer will consent to perform that album, as well as the band's somewhat successful lapis-colored debut, on a new tour that hits the Nob Hill Masonic Center in San Francisco on November 29 and 30.

The first night (Monday) will feature the Blue Album, with Pinkerton -- which frontman Rivers Cuomo spent many years trying to disown -- performed on Tuesday. Both shows will also feature a "greatest hits" set from the band, which could be interesting, considering that most of its greatest hits are on the albums already featured.

But we'll save the sniping for later. In the meantime, make yourself aware that tickets for this two-night bonanza go officially on sale this Sunday, with the presale kicking off tomorrow. Get back from Thanksgiving weekend on time, and start brushing up on the lyrics if you need to, because -- call it a wild suspicion -- we think some people in the audience might wanna sing along.
